KISSA Mochi-tsuki Event – Pounding rice cakes
On January 25, KISSA hosted an exchange event “KISSA Mochi-tsuki,” between international and Japanese students at Kakuma-no-sato.
KISSA is a club that provides a forum for exchange between Japanese and international students at Kanazawa University.
About 60 students participated in the event and ate rice cakes made with a mortar (Usu) and pestle (Kine) and covered with soybean flour (Kinako) and red bean paste (Anko).
Although it was a cold day, the students warmed their hearts and bodies with traditional Japanese games, such as origami, kendama, and fukuwarai (Japanese folklore game).
